Queens Birthday Long Weekend:- NIP (Nowhere In Particular) Cruise
All members welcome to enjoy the long
weekend to where ever the wind takes us!
Sign up at the clubrooms.
The 2009 TSA Coffin Bay trip was the first “extended
stay” for us…and we couldn’t have picked a better spot! There were 19 boats from the TSA, but it
felt more like a GIYC cruise with 9 boats from Garden Island. The weather was great, with a few days of light
winds, which made for perfect fishing weather!
Our aim for the trip
was to get to know our boat a little better, and enjoy ourselves! Day 1 commenced with perfect timing… We had
just finished setting up the boat and unpacking our groceries…and the Sea Drift
invited those at dock over for Happy Hour!
The nest day we sailed
out around the brothers orienting ourselves, and stopped for a bit of
fishing…with not much luck. The Para
vein became known as the weed catcher!
I think there is enough said there!
Our first night in
Yangie Bay we were joined by a number of boats for a lovely (if not windy)
evening, and an even more spectacular sunrise.
Yangie Bay became a favorite overnight stop for us…on a still clear
night we even have the bay to ourselves, not to mention the pick of the fishing
spots the following morning!
Somewhere in the trip
we also managed to break our V-Berth bed (Please no comments!) and had to
endure many suggestive comments from the rest of the fleet!
Being the youngest
couple on the trip we managed to pick up the nickname of “The Kids”, which was
fitting as not only were we the youngest, but also the least experienced
sailors. I would like to think that we
made all of our sailing parents proud with our sailing, because I know that we
are very pleased with how we went!
But I think our clam
to fame from the trip, wouldn’t be breaking the bed, or Ryan getting too drunk
to drive the car on the way there, but our “Over Board Garbage Bin” (patent
pending!).
The company was
fantastic, and the scenery just as good.
We will be sure to go back!
